Pamela Enticknap paints "Alla Prima" which is Italian for "at once", meaning the painting is done in one session while the paint is still wet.  Sometimes it is called "Direct Painting".  Most of Pamela’s work is from life, but often the figurative paintings are from drawings, which are from life.  She is inspired by lyrical rhythms and patterns and tries to keep the work free-spirited, intuitive and expressive and attempts to capture that energy in the paintings.

Pamela loves drawing, and draws constantly. Her drawing skill forms the assured basis of her paintings. About the process she says, “I love the process of putting one color next to another to generate excitement in a painting. I work quickly and with robust strokes, almost spontaneously, but always supported by underlying composition and drawing.  Sometimes I like to leave the drawing in the painting, as the line quality is energetic and exciting.  Sometimes I like to play with color and quality of light - tone on tone, value on value, warm and cool.”
